DC Residents
DC’s cost of living is 53% higher than the national average, with housing costs 144% above the national average. Our city’s leaders have created scarcity – in our housing market, and in access to life’s essential goods and services – by increasing what it costs to supply the basics of a livable city. This self-imposed scarcity creates hardship and drives up costs for all DC residents.

“East of the river has always been rich in promise — but too often overlooked when it comes to consistent investment. In Ward 8, pathways to prosperity have felt just out of reach for far too many. Opportunity DC is helping change that by ensuring our voices are centered in how the city grows. With pragmatic, accountable leadership, we can turn that promise into real economic opportunity — so Ward 8 rises alongside the rest of DC, not behind it.”
